2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S (video)
Porsche has released info (and a video) on the newest model in their second-generation Cayenne lineup: the Turbo S variant. Said to be the most powerful Cayenne ever, the new model is scheduled to hit the UK and German market this coming January.
Powering the Turbo S is the same V8 4.8-liter engine found in the Turbo (as well as the Panamera Turbo S), but has additional mods like increased turbocharger boost pressure, more free flowing inlet manifold and remapped electronics. These modifications allow it to produce an additional 50 hp, increasing the total output to an impressive 550 hp. The car can go from 0-62 mph 0.2 seconds faster than before, while top speed has now increased by 3 mph.
New styling cues include black high gloss accents on the headlamp and mirror housings, as well as a new set of 21-inch alloys exclusive for this flagship model. The cabin features leather upholstery and carbon trim. The SUV’s chassis configuration has been borrowed from the Cayenne Turbo, so both share the same air suspension, along with the firm’s active damping control with hydraulically-operated roll bars and a torque vectoring system. There’s also an electronically-controlled rear differential lock.
