Super Mario Bros. “Hungry-Hungry Hippos” Board Game (pics/video)
Hungry Hungry Hippos, otherwise known as Triple H, not of WWE fame, is an iconic game that screams childhood memories. Each player is provided a select number of marbles and can eject them into the chow pit where upon players must eat as many as possible. Those with the most marbles wins.
The game is very rudimentary, needless to say, and is more about sheer speed (who can flap the lever fast enough) than skill. Nevertheless, to this day we’d play it again and again, and probably stick one under our coffee table given half the chance. Or if we had this version, which has been modified to include characters from Super Mario Bros, we’d gladly leaved it perched in plain sight. It’s just too bad that it’s a one off, created by Flickr user Kodykoala. Each hippo was transformed into a Koopa, each with their own personality and color. Completing the mod took 50 hours, which can be viewed (and bought) at the upcoming El Paso Comic Con this weekend.
