There is no disputing the similarities between the Z-Board – which enjoyed Kickstarter fame earlier this year – and the just announced Boosted Boards.
However, Boosted Boards’ design is far more innocuous, and by that we mean there isn’t a big battery pack protruding from under its belly. Yet, Boosted Boards is still able to achieve a 6 mile range with a top speed of 20mph thanks to the 2000w twin brushless motors. Charging the on-board battery takes just 2 hours, which is less than half the time of Z-Board’s iteration.
Comparison’s aside, the Boosted Boards weigh between 12 to 15 pounds, which the company says is the lightest electric vehicle ever made. Now keep in mind that a normal long board weighs about 8lbs, so they’re adding just 4 to 7lbs in components, which is impressive since it can climb a 15% incline and includes regenerative braking. In addition to partnering with Loaded, what they’re calling one of the best long board companies in the world, they’ve some how managed to score a relationship with a former director of engineering at Tesla. You remember Tesla, right? Nevertheless, to propel the board forward, we assume you just lean in that direction. And conversely, to slow down you lean back.
The Boosted Boards are currently a Kickstarter campaign. Funding ends in early October, which is no drop in the back at $1,099.
