It’s not new news, or suprising news, but Apple just confirmed that they’ll hold an event on September 12th at the one and only Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. If you recall, we told you that an event would take place the week of September 9th, but that’s all we knew. Now, Apple has sent out invites to the press (not us unfortunately) dated September 12th.
And although they haven’t officially confirmed that it will in fact be an iPhone 5 event, if you look at the above image you’ll see that the shadow of the twelve is a 5, which all but confirms not only the event’s context but the name of the new iPhone. So yeah, there is that. In addition to the iPhone 5, at least in terms of rumors, there is speculation that Apple will also announce an iPad Mini. The iPad Mini would compete with the likes of the Kindle Fire and other Android tablets that are more portable in size.
In terms of the new iPhone, you can probably expect a larger display measuring 4-inches in size, a smaller dock connector, a non-glass back, true 4G connectivity (LTE), and perhaps NFC capabilities, though that last one is a stretch.
