Samsung Ativ S is the Company’s First Windows Phone 8
If you didn’t know, all Windows Phone 7 devices will not be upgradeable to Windows 8. Sad, frustrating and true. But that might not matter any more, especially after seeing Samsung’s first Window 8 Phone, the Ativ S.
This phone is clad in Corning’s Gorilla Glass for those with a tendency to shatter screens, as well as finished in brushed aluminum. Complementing its svelte body – it measures just 8.7mm thick – is a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, and an 8-megapixel camera (1.9MP on the front). Two storage capacities will be available at launch (32GB and 16GB) with the option to expand via a microSD card slot. 1GB of RAM, a 2,300mAh battery, and a physical Windows button found at the base round out the feature set.
According to the Windows Team Blog the Ativ S I neither too heavy or too light – it’s just right – and it’s “perfectly balanced” to prevent hand fatigue. That said, it measures 137.2mm x 70.5mm x 8.7mm.
