Olympus Announces New Stylus SP-820UZ iHS Digital Camera

Olympus Presents Camera With 40x Zoom Capability 650x323 Olympus Announces New Stylus SP 820UZ iHS Digital Camera

Olympus released news on its new Stylus SP-820UZ iHS Digital Camera that boasts a 40x zoom lens. The new megazoom flagship model doesn’t come close to the 42x zoom lens that Nikon’s Coolpix P510 has, but its 40x f3.4-5.7 22.4-896mm lens allows it to be a more fully automatic camera with no manual (or semimanual) shooting modes. But its high-sensitivity 14-megapixel CMOS sensor and Olympus TruePic V image processor will capture 1080p HD and high-speed video (240fps HSQVGA) clips. It also allows for multishot HDR and low-light shooting options, too. And thanks to its 3 fps high-speed burst shooting (at full resolution) you can shoot like a pro and nail that perfect shot by taking a quick sequence at the tough of a button.

Its 3-inch 460K-dot LCD allows you to view your shots, but it doesn’t come with an electric viewfinder so that might be a deal breaker for some. But for those who like to spice up their photos, the new SP-820UZ iHS comes with creative in-camera Magic Art filters like Pin Hole, Pop Art and even a and a Smart Panorama mode, which captures ultrawide shots if you pan the camera.

And unlike other digital cameras, this one is powered by AA batteries, so there’s no need to worry about charging batteries. Olympus says it will hit stores next month and be available in black and silver versions for $329.99.
