Unfortunately, Nike’s Fuelband fell short of our expectations. But don’t get us wrong. We applaud Nike for not only its design, but what they’re trying to accomplish. And that’s why we gotta get our hands on the Nike+ Sportswatch, which is now available in a limited edition color set that will only see a production run of 1900 pieces.
The Nike+ Sportswatch combines the accelerometer data from the Fuelband, with the accuracy of GPS powered by none other than TomTom. That means when you’re done running to the gym, you can fire up the Nike+ sensor and continue to monitor your calories burned as you curl, squat, and dead lift your body into submission. Or just simply wear it when you’re at home or at the office and see just how sedentary of life you live. For those seeking a bit more accuracy, there is a heart rate sensor that is compatible with the Polar Wearlink+ Transmitter, and a backlit screen that activates with a tap of the display.
The Nike+ Sportswatch can log up to 50 runs until it reminds you to upload them to their community site, where upon you’ll find workouts and can share your lap time. To upload, you just plug in the wrist band into your computer’s USB port, which will also provide it with a battery recharge.
The Nike+ Sportswatch, limited edition or not, sells for $169.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
