Samsung and Apple have been in a heated legal battle for sometime now. It seems to be a case of she said, he said, which is a total over simplification on our behalf.  Nevertheless, sometimes we feel like it’s the equivalent of two kids bickering over the dinner table. That said, Apple has begun to reveal some of its prototype iPhone designs in the hopes that they can prove that Samsung has infringed upon their design.  And while it probably won’t have much of an impact on us (the consumer) it’s most certainly intriguing to see the iPhones that were to be.

Many of them have been a bit on the unremarkable side, if not predictable. However, none have looked so cool, if not up to date, than this early prototype. It was conceived during a 2003 research project for the iPad – remember, the iPad was the impetus for the iPhone. Perhaps if we’re lucky, the iPhone 5 will draw from this design, which could very well have called for a larger 4-inch screen.
