If you live in a city, such as Boston or New York, then you know all too well that a fireplace, of any type, wood or gas, are impossible to come by.  And if they do exist in the abode you happen to rent or own, it’s probably been closed up, which means that it serves as nothing more than a show piece to what was once a beautiful and usable center piece to your living room.

The Slate Tabletop Fireplace brings the flame to just about any table top.  Heck, you could even plunk this thing on your desk, though your office manager might have a quip or two.  The base is made of that always heavy and trusted slate stone, which should provide some added protection in the event the oil powered flames begin to lick at its tasty finish.  The would be logs are made from stainless steel, measures 7.5-inches long, and should work with any brand of bio-ethanol fuel.  That said, make sure you don’t use gasoline or any other fuel, otherwise you might pass out from asphyxiation.

The downside to this setup?  They’re not cheap ($365), and won’t provide much more warmth and light than a big candle.
