Rolls-Royce Builds Trent 1000 Engine Replica from 152,455 LEGOs

We’ve seen some pretty insane LEGO builds before, but apparently, Rolls-Royce’s LEGO Trent 1000 engine build is most complex LEGO machine ever built! Weighing 677 pounds and consisting of 152,455 LEGO bricks, the Lego Rolls-Royce engine measures 6.56 feet long and has more than 160 separate engine components that are arranged just like the engine that powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The luxury automaker presented their massive LEGO engine at the Farnborough International Airshow and mentions that it took four people to build in eight weeks. But like their fine automobiles, the LEGO engine build features intricate details that mimic the inner workings of the engine, “including everything from the large fan blades which suck air into the engine down to the combustion chambers where fuel is burned.” In order to get everything right, the builders looked at CAD plans of the engine to reproduce every single detail using LEGO bricks. But even though it’s huge, the LEGO replica engine is still only half the size of the real engine that weighs a whopping 1.25 tons!
