When Freedom Pop announced their 4G Sleeve, we were a bit surprised to learn that it was designed specifically for the iPhone. After all, Apple’s smartphone includes 3G (or 4G depending on who you’re talking to) coverage. Yes, the speeds are variable, but it’s more than enough to stream music and watch the occasional YouTube video. So that said, why they didn’t come out of the gate with a 4G sleeve for the iPod is anyone’s guess, but no matter, because today Freedom Pop announced such a product.
Unfortunately, it’s merely a “pre-sale.” So if you’re so willing you can plunk down $99 you can expect the device to ship to your door sometime between now and mid September. Included in that price will 500MB of data for free, month over month. However, you can earn a measly 10MB for each friend referred, or up to 5 additional gigabytes when you engage in “partner offers,” which are probably something along the lines of surveys and affiliate offers. And much like the iPhone version you’ll be able to purchase additional GBs for $10 each, though there doesn’t seem to be an extended battery option for the handset.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
