Augmented reality apps arrived with a relatively big bang. But as time passed, as it tends to do, they have become rather common place. But the same caveat doesn’t seem to apply when it comes to toys, as in physical objects, that interact with iOS or Android apps. Skylander is probably the biggest and badest of the bunch (for console only), but if you’re looking for a lower barrier to entry, checkout the Wow Wee Zombie Burbz Diner toys.
The app, or game, is completely free, but you’ll need to purchase each deluxe zombie figure to unlock their own story. Okay, so the game play looks like anything but engaging; you just drag them across the screen and hit some corresponding buttons – but the idea is a great one. We’re assuming that each Zombie comes with a unique code to unlock new stories in the game. After all, the iPad can’t read RFID tags, which is what the Skylander figurines and reader are based upon. However, we might see game in the future that use RFID since a few Android based handsets can read these wireless tags.
You can buy a pack of Zombies from Verizon for $9.99.
