Volvo is getting sportier thanks to Polestar and the new Volvo S60 Polestar Concept they’ve developed. As Volvo’s official motorsport and performance partner, Polestar helped the automaker develop a car that combines Volvo’s comfortable driving experience with a high level of power and handling, providing a bit more performance to their platform. To do so, they’ve tuned Volvo’s T6 engine to deliver more power, boasting 508 hp, which allows the concept to go from rest to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds before it tops out at 186 mph. They’ve also lowered its stance by 30mm with a Öhlins suspension and added a set of 19-inch Polestar wheels with 365/30R19 tires, which all combine for better handling.
The exterior features a lowered front splitter and larger rear spoiler, a carbon fiber diffuser and the entire body was widened (front and rear) for a more aggressive and sportier stance. The interior has been updated with custom Polestar-designed seats for better support, an Alcantara-lined cabin and a center console that’s been optimized to improve ergonomics. This one-off concept was actually built for a specific client, but Volvo might but the Polestar modified S60s into production based on market response. It’s also meant to compete with the likes of the BMW 1 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
