We’re not sure when, or how for that matter, but sneakers have made the transition from clothing to gadgetry. Or at least that’s how we’re spinning it for the sake of being able to write about it. Case in point, Nike‘s Air Yeezy II.
This shoe is apparently co-marketed with Kanye West, which means it will probably sell like hot cakes on a very frigid and hungry day. Nike slapped this design on top of their Air Tech Challenge II tennis shoe outsole, and they say, despite its overstated looks, that this shoe is routed in (some) utility, or put another way “there’s absolute function at the Air Yeezy II’s core”. While we’ll quietly dispute that last statment, we do applaud the bold and unforgiving look of this shoe.
What you’re looking at is anaconda textured leather quarter panels complemented by a debossed Vac-Tech Nike Swoosh. The rear, or what we’d call the fin, is sculpted with a reptilian inspired spike, while that strap harks back to the days of the 80s, when the original Nike’s Air Yeezy took flight.
The Nike’s Air Yeezy II will release June 9th in a black or platinum edition at select global retails in limited editions. Sorry, no word on a price.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
