Turns out we were just scraping the surface when it came to Assassin’s Creed 3. On Monday, during the Playstation event, Ubisoft unveiled another piece of the historically accurate game, which takes the adventure to the high seas. Yes, you read that correctly, you’ll captain a ship, complete with crew, sails, and weather that can swifty change from calm and sunny, to stormy and rough.
In this short clip you’ll see your character shout out instructions, man a ship into battle, and ultimately engage in an all out canon ball exchange with numerous other ships. The action reaches a peak when you disable the enemies sales and set forth to board their vessel, and plunder the goods like any Navy man of that era would. Unfortunately, that’s where the demo ends and our drooling sets into full pace.
Now, in terms of mechanics, we’re hearing that you’ll be in control of the type of ammo that is fired from your ship. You can choose between a Bola like shot to disable sails, a heated shot for setting the enemy aflame, a regular cannon ball, or a scatter shot for taking out opposing crew members. A more accurate gun allows you to take out single enemies, such as a captain or target their gun powder reserves and trigger an explosion of hopefully epic proportion.
Again, Assassin’s Creed arrives October 30th.
