As long as we can remember, we’ve usually just settled on the standard iPhone cable that is included with the handset.  And why the hell not?  There doesn’t seem to be a better alternative, unless of course you need a cord that stretches from the rear of your desktop to your desk or one that is so short it doesn’t get tangled in your steering wheel.  Boy, we couldn’t have been more wrong.

The Une Bobine – confusing names aside – is a seriously smart iPhone USB cable that everyone will want on their desk, in their kitchen or in their car.  In fact, we’re willing to bet it will stop more chicks than a 3 month old puppy.  So what is it?  Well, it is in fact a 30-pin USB cord for your iPhone.  But instead of the usual rubber coated design, the Une Bobine – it means “A Coil” in French – has been lined with something they’re calling a metal gooseneck that is very similar to those adjustable figures you played with when you were a kid.  In theory, the Une Bobine can be fixed in a position imaginable and thanks to the sturdy construction it’s strong enough to make your iPhone look as if it’s floating.  Alternatively, you could wrap it around a variety of objects like those Joby tripods.

This is a Kickstarter project, so to get in on one you’ll need drop $25.  They’ve already acquired a manufacturer and gone through the testing process, so as soon as this project is funded on June 16th you’re order will go into production and should show up a week or two following, or at least we’d hope so.
