Magnifi: the World’s First iPhone Photoadapter Case
Going on Safari this holiday? Odds are you’ll be investing in a camera with a significant telephoto lens since more than half the available shots will be from over 100 yards away. How about if instead of getting a whole new camera rig you could use your iPhone 4s?
The Magnifi is the world’s first iPhone universal photoadapter case for the iPhone. You heard that right. It attaches the iPhone to binoculars, telescopes, microscope – you name it – allowing you to capture what appears through your lens’ eye using the handsets camera. The Kickstarter makers says it should work really with anything that has an eyepiece that is 1″ – 1.5″ in diameter (25mm – 38mm) – keep in mind the eye seal needs to be removable. For eyepieces smaller than 1″, Magnifi includes a set of silicone adapters.
A bayonet design means that the Magnifi should be future proof. That is to say that it comes in two pieces; a case and an eyepiece adapter. If, and when Apple launches an iPhone 5, which presumably will have a slightly different shape from the current iPhone, the eyepiece will continue work and thus negate the need for a significant reinvestment.
To get your own Magnifi you’ll have to lay down $60, though funding for this project ends in 8 days.
