A giant golden orb spider was recently spotted chowing down on a brown tree snake in a random garden in Cairns, Australia. You’d think it be the other way around, but apparently not down under. The video was caught by Ant Hadleigh, who immediately went straight for his camera when he walked into a friend’s backyard and saw the spider slowly devouring its prey.
“A few times the snake managed to get up and attack the spider, and the spider would run back up the web. I would have put my money on the snake for sure, especially seeing how big it was.” he described in an interview for News.com.au. He also estimated that tree snake to e about a half a meter long and was alive for “an hour or more” after being caught in the spider’s web dying.
