Yes Amped Wireless, the company that brought us a super router that covers 10,000 square feet with ease is back again with some new toys for those of us that need super coverage.  Their new flagship adapter is the UA2000, and it looks to be a bit of a beast.  From the site:

“The Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N Directional Dual Band USB Adapter provides your Mac or Windows laptop or desktop computer with high speed dual band N600 Wi-Fi access and superior wireless range. The UA2000 is a high performance wireless network adapter that allows your PC or Mac to connect to 2.4GHz or 5.0GHz 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi networks from up to three times greater distance than other wireless adapters through the use of a high gain directional antenna, dual band power amplifiers and wireless reception amplifiers. The UA2000 can also be clipped onto your laptop monitor for added mobility.”

Now that sounds like the adapter for me – luckily we will be having a review up before long, so stay tuned for that!  The second adapter that they are putting out is the UA1000.  While it is basically the same thing, you can see from the description below that it runs at about half the power of the UA2000, but the biggest difference between the two is that the UA1000 is not dual band like the UA2000.  This could be a deal breaker for a number of people, but I am sure that enough don’t care about that to make the UA1000 a decent purchase:

“The Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 500mW Directional USB Adapter provides your Mac or Windows laptop or desktop computer with high speed 300Mbps Wi-Fi access and superior wireless range. The UA1000 is a high performance wireless network adapter that allows your PC or Mac to connect to 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi networks from up to three times greater distance than other wireless adapters through the use of a high gain, dual polarity, directional antenna, dual 500mW power amplifiers and wireless reception amplifiers. The UA1000 can also be clipped onto your laptop monitor for added mobility.”

Amped Wireless has some other neat things in the pipes for later release, but for now this should be enough to wet anyone’s whistle.  I can almost see my dream of covering my entire block with Wi-Fi ready to come to fruition.  If not the block, then at least mine and my two neighbor’s houses…

You can pre-order the UA2000 for $99.99 or if you don’t need something quite so robust (or you are just a bit more frugal) then you can get the UA1000 for $79.99

They will be released on 5/14, and I suspect that demand will be pretty high on them – you may want to put your order in ASAP to make sure you get one.
