Nothing like a little guilt to motivate one into doing, or in this case, not doing something. Get on a scale. If you’re overweight you might hold off eating that deep fried Twinkie. Electricity bill shoots up by $10. You’ll probably remember to turn off the lights or shut down the TV a few hours early.
The same logic applies to Roca‘s Intelligent drain. We don’t know too much about it, or whether or not it actually became a commercially available products, but either way, we want one. Presumably it installs in place of your drain cover and instead of simply stopping water and objects from slipping down the drain’s hole, it contains a sensor and a screen, that measures and displays how many gallons of water your wasting while you brush your teeth, wash your hands or shave.
The benefits are clearly a two fold. You’ll curb your water usage, at least during times when you don’t need the tap running. And two, you’ll save money on your water bill, though it might be negligible since the majority of water usages is derived from showering.
