Instagram is massive, no doubt about that.  Snap a photo and you can share it with all your friends on the web.  However, the impetus to print out those photos simply doesn’t exist…until now.  Blurring the line between photo booth and Instagram is Instaprint.  It’s a tiny box that can be slapped on a wall, connected to WiFi and before you know it, it can churn out nearby photos.

Instaprint works by searching for  specific locations or hashtags, and automatically prints photos that are appropriately tagged.  Hopefully, they add a feature which allows people to print out photos once they arrive at the box, that way photos don’t go missing and paper doesn’t needlessly get consumed.  Instaprint is built by a Brooklyn based company called BREAKFAST.  While they’re still in the prototype phase (they’re looking for the Kickstarter community to fund them), they’ve apparently developed a working version that utilizes inkless paper (ZINK probably, where the ink is embedded in the paper) negating the need to change out expensive and messy ink cartridges.  For those who are in need of higher volume printing, you’ll be able to purchase a multiply box setup, which should include a more expensive box with WiFi and perhaps power supply that supports a cheaper, more watered down Instraprint box.  The hardware is further supported by their very own website, Instaprint.me, which will play host to your events photos and galleries.

At $399 a piece, we’re not sure if the convenience of wireless printing is enough to justify the price.  After all, you can pick up a Polaroid ZINK printer for about $40, which allows you to print photos wirelessly over Bluetooth.
