Fashionistas and hipster would argue that their clothing is as valuable as a life.  Tumi seems to agree as their latest line of luggage, the TEGRA-LITE, utilizes body armor.

The material is called Tegris, a polypropylene thermoplastic composite material created by Milliken.  It’s long been used in body armor, NASCAR cars and protective equipment for NFL players.  At the end of the day, Tegris can takes a serious licking without all the added weight generally experience with hardside cases.

Tumi, who acquired the exclusive world wide rights to this material, sells the cases starting at $595.
