Suffice to say iPhone cases are far from an original idea. Duh! That said, we’ve seen them all. You’ve got your battery cases that recharge the handset without the need to be plugged into the wall; cases that protect your iPhone from water and other things that might damage its electronic components; and cases that recharge the iPhone using the power of the sun (solar). And until earlier this week, when we received an email from Snow Lizard, we hadn’t seen an iPhone case that combined all of the above.
The case is called the AQUA TEK S. It can recharge your iPhone using an internal battery and all the while protect it from water and dust. For those that travel into the nether regions of this Earth there is a solar panel that can give your phone a quick boost if you run out of juice while trekking down a mountain or hitting the slopes in the middle of east bum **ck. Unfortunately, Snow Lizard still hasn’t specified the capacitiy of the battery or the waterproof rating, but they mention that it can be submerged. However, we can tell you that there is a “thumb screw” micro USB port that allows you to charge your iPhone without removing it from the case. We also know that the case is built from Poly-Carbonate, which the company says can save the iPhone from a 20-foot drop.
As you’ve probably surmised the AQUA TEK S iPhone case is a Kickstarter project. They’re looking for at least $25, though $100 will get you your own case, far less than the cost of iPhone insurance over the life of Apple’s smartphone.
