Head deep into the outback, the Sahara desert or the rain forest and you’ll most certainly find yourself in need of a battery or two to charge your mobile devices. Base camp should provide you with some sort of power source, but that is hardly a guarantee. Which is exactly what Mophie’s Juice Pack Universal Powerstation Pro is; a 6000mAh guarantee to be more specific.
If anything it reminds us of those ruggedized hard drives from Lacie. Though instead of a spindle, this battery pack is capable of charging up your iPad thanks to a 2.1amp USB port as well as a secondary port, which we assume is just 1amp, suitable for your iPhone. In terms of charging, this brick of charging goodness should be able to power your iPhone 4 almost four times and your iPad 2 to about 80% capacity.
We got a brief hands on with the device at CES 2012, though it wasn’t working. While the battery pack looks rather large in size, it’s actually pretty light weight and all things relative pretty slender considering its capabilities.
Mophie hasn’t made the Universal Powerstation Pro’s price official, but we’re hearing about $100.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
