Thinkgeek has really out done themselves this time.

Just in time for this holiday gift giving is the Electronic Drum Machine Shirt. And guess what?  It’s already backordered, which attests to the popularity of this novelty item.  Or perhaps they just don’t have any in stock just yet.

Much like the guitar shirt we saw a few years ago, this one includes a real working drum kit on the face of the shirt.  But unlike the guitar version, which was limited to just a few notes and chords, this t-shirt turned instrument sports 9 different drum kits with 7 professional grade drum sounds that include: Rock Drums, Retro 808, Discotek, Techno Punk, Classic Jazz, Bass Invaderz, Chiptune, Zapf Dingbats and Scratchy.

We haven’t gotten a hands on yet, so we can’t speak for all the kits, but the ThinkGeek videos demonstrate a variety of Nintendo Mario inspired sounds along with scratch noises from, what else, a turntable.  But that’s not all.  Built directly into the shirt is a loop machine, allowing you to layer an endless array of drums (as in tracks) on top of one and other up to 3 minutes in length.   Did we mention that you can hit all 7 pads simultaneously?

And if you’re anything like us, you’re probably wondering what you can do with those loops once you’ve whittled away the better part of the day creating them?  In addition to a mini amp that latches on to your belt for live concerts (on the subway), there is an analog output which should allow you export them to a smartphone, albeit in an analog format.  And once you’re done sweating the beat, you can toss it in the wash; it’s laundry machine safe (minus the amp of course).

As mentioned, they’re backordered, but they’ll arrive in a few days for $29.99.
