Iguana 29 Amphibious Craft (video)
The Iguana 29 is a far shot from that flying hovercraft, but it does sport a similar versatility. Hidden in the hull of the boat are a pair of retractable caterpillar tracks that allow it to leaves the water and traverse some of the most challenging of terrain. Unfortunately, top speed caps out at about 5mph, which means you won’t be driving from your home to the water’s edge, unless of course you live a few hundred feet from said lake. However, it is capable of jetting through the ocean at up to 35 knots, which ain’t too shabby considering it is an amphibious vehicle.
Controlling the craft on land comes by way of a joystick system, where as we can only assume they’ve chosen a steering wheel when it is sitting in the drink. A joystick makes sense since the caterpillar tracks allow it to move much like a tank, enabling it to rotate and move in a small area. This makes it ideal for bodies of water that don’t have a beach you can drive up to and have a particularly rocking terrain.
No word on when you can buy the Iguana 29, but we’re hearing that it will cost about $280,000.
