Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."

  1. I need ONE shortcut on my home screen. Perhaps someone can help.

I use iphone 5 and I extensively use SHORTCUTS feature a lot. But to get to Shortcuts is painful: Settings>General>Keyboard>Shortcuts and then make auto-text entries.

  2. Coming from a brand new iPhone 4S with latest software, I’m getting the same error message as JFK on Verizon 3G. I’m very interested in getting this to work, so I’ll try restarting my phone and using wifi. I’ll report back with the results.

This looks like the best app ever – but,,,,, Does it not work for the iphone 4 5.1 (9B179)?
“Safari could not install a profile due to an unknown error”
Happy to donate if you guys have a fix for this error.

  4. Anyone know these clever shortcut guys have addressed the 5.1 block yet?  So annoying that Apple feel the need to block such things.

  5. I like the iphone, but sometimes wonder.  I mean you lose the nice Bluetooth app, but try and get rid of Newsstand.  Ah well I suppose you could blame Panasonic for not making their device pair automatically.  Motorola does.

  6. Hi same issue as JC – Version 4.3.3 (8J2).

Icon fires up Safari which tries to resolve URL but returns “Cannot Open Page – Safari cannot open page because the address is invalid.”

  7. When I click the new icon, it launches Safari trying to open a web page, and then I get this error:
    Cannot Open Page
Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid.

No idea which page is it trying to open…

    • JC, I just tried it with no problem.  Are you doing the above from your iPhone?  Also, what iOS are you running?

  8. I tried this but what is installed is a shortcut to a webpage, not an application…
    Maybe I did something wrong?

    • JC, that’s exactly what it is.  The iPhone’s iOS is based on URLs.  This is effectively a neatly packaged URL string that gets you to the setting.
