Captain James T. Kirk has long enjoyed those nifty sliding doors found on the Enterprise. Jealous? Us too. But now you can enjoy the very same creature comforts, minus the Holodeck of course.
The AutoSlide can be fixed to most manual sliding doors and as the name suggests it will automatically open and close it hands free – it even works with screen doors. Pretty slick if you’ve got your hands full, or your Dad has a tendency to walk into plates of glass.
While installation will probably have to be performed by a professional, or someone with a familiarity with electricity and a set of tools, anyone can adjust the door’s sensor allowing you to prevent children from exiting the house during a burning inferno. They’ve also got a proprietary pet sensor that will detect your pet’s presence and let them in or out at their discretion all but eliminating potential carpet stains. Much like a car window, if AutoSlide bumps into someone or something, it will reverse direction ensuring that life and limb are maintained.
But if you really wanna impress the ladies you can install these around your home, provide you’ve got room for a sliding door. However, they kits start at $400, which ain’t exactly a drop in the bucket.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
