A few days ago Pandora, the ultra popular Internet radio station that tailors music playback according to your tastes, rolled out a site redesign. And from where we sit it looks even better than before.
They’ve implemented a number of updates, but the most notable one is targeted at you cheapskates. Unlike other companies that offer less and less, Pandora is giving more by removing their 40 hour listening cap for nonpaying customers. You’ll still be hit with ads here and there, but a caveat that surely justifies the freemium experience.
And now, thank to a social feed update, listeners can now more easily discover what their friends are listening to and leave comments regarding their music choices. Facebook has long been integrated into the music site, but was lacking in presence and connectivity, so this update looks to fix that. Plus Spotify was probably eating their lunch in this department so it was paramount that they updated this aspect of the service.
The same controls that you’ve come to know and love are still present, but Pandora says they’ve enhanced them and added a new shuffle feature that allows you to randomly move between a set number of stations and improve the variety of music you listen to. Odd, because this option was available in the last iteration of the site, but perhaps it’s now been streamlined.
