Tesla Motors Will Release New Sport Utility Electric Vehicle In December
It seems Tesla Motors will be unveiling its electric SUV around December. The Model X prototype will use the same powertrain and technology as Tesla’s other models like their Roadster and Model S vehicles. The information on a new model comes from chief executive Elon Musk in a company’s quarterly earnings call earlier this week. This will be the company’s third car, with it’s first being the pricey sports car, the Roadster, which runs about $109,000 and came out back in 2008.
Its second car is the new Model S, which will start shipping to those who ordered the sedan this coming October. While the Roadster can travel more than 200 miles on a single charge, the Model S can go about 300 miles, so the new SUV Model X might deliver numbers somewhere in between the two. The two-seater sports car is obviously for those who can afford it, with the Model S aimed at those buying an electric car for the first time, so the SUV version will be targeted for those with families and need more rom. Expect more information to be released closer to the end of the year.
