Razer Tiamat Headset-1

Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."

  1. Their last headset was also their first 7.1. This new one is analog, which means you’ll be using your sound card. It’s actual 7.1, utilizing all 5 holes of your sound card (assuming your sound card has it) and 1 usb for power. And everyone knows usb solutions are subpar in sound quality to analog.

  2. Their last 7.1 headset was an overpriced price of crap. (I’m an owner). And they never mentioned that it was virtual surround. I would avoid razer headphones like the plague. Particually when they force you to use their crappy USB integrated sound card.

My brother uses a logitec one plugged into an old creative sound blaster, which is miles ahead of mine in terms of 3d sound and sound quality.

    • Razer Maelstrom Audio Engine
Hear your enemies before you see them with 7.1 channel virtual surround sound. If the sound source  does not support 7.1 or 5.1 Surround Sound, the Megalodon will also perform as a quality Stereo Headset with a deep thumping bass.

    • I 2nd that opinion if you’re referring to the razer megalodon.  USB sound is just not on par with a dedicated sound card. Even an old sound blaster audigy sounds much better than alot of onboard options.

I’ve yet to find a decent review of the Tiamat.  There are alot of unboxing vids but have no real information regarding the surround separation quality vs a standard stereo headphone.  If I had a pair, that’d be the first thing I’d review.  Unboxing videos….serious? pffft
