What weighs about 200lbs, sports wagon wheels and can destroy a small car?  Give up?  The giant Slingshot Cannon.  It’s designed and built by Joerg Sprave.  We’ve seen some of his rubber band inventions before, but none, at least in our memory, have been so powerful and caused this much carnage.  We won’t blame you if you want to cut to the chase, as in the video below, but if you’re interested there is a small explanation of the weaponry just below.

At the end of last year Joerg introduced a mini version of this canon, about 10 times smaller.  He called it a “desktop canon” and it fired 8mm steel balls.  This larger version fires 80mm balls, which can travel upwards of 200 meters.  Power is drawn from “6 full Thera Band Gold [straps] per side, 72 times stronger than “hunterbands” for conventional slingshots.”  The canon is height adjustable, which enables him to control trajectory and thus achieve the range.
