Dr. Drip Coffee Review
If there’s one thing I like in this world, it’s a good cup of coffee. I’m not talking about the swill they try to pass off as coffee at some fast food places, or various restaurants – I’m talking about the kind of coffee that you just sit there, smell, and be transported somewhere other than where you are. When I first was told about Dr. Drip Coffee, I assumed it was a new kind of coffee maker; something aiken to a Mr. Coffee. How so far off I really was…
Dr. Drip Coffee is a coffee you brew, but you don’t brew it in any kind of a machine; rather, the brewer is the coffee. The Dr. Drip Coffee system is simple, yet so ingenious that you’ll wonder why no one else has thought of it before now. Basically you open up the package, and are presented with a small, folded up piece of cardboard – or so one would think at first glance. In reality, that piece of cardboard-like material unfolds into hexagonal shape with four “feet”. The feet hang over the edge of your coffee mug, and the hexagonal shape holds the coffee.
After that, all you have to do is pour some hot water into the center of the hexagonal shape, and get ready to enjoy a truly fantastic cup of coffee. That’s all there is to it; no bells or whistles, no fancy machines, and you get a coffee shop quality cup of coffee, without the annoying barista. Even better is the fact that Dr. Drip Coffee is all natural, fair trade, and organically grown. Dr. Drip Coffee has gone out of their way to make the entire experience “green” as well – all Dr. Drip Coffee packaging, coffee, and filters are recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable, so you don’t have to feel guilty about making any waste.
The biggest negative about Dr. Drip Coffee is it’s cost, however if you’re used to going to a coffee shop to get your fix, it’s really not that bad – if you’re someone that buys a giant coffee tub from your local grocery store then it might be an issue. A five pack of Dr. Drip Coffee (that’s five cups) will run you $8.99 – almost $1.80 a cup. You can drop that cost to around $1.33 a cup if you buy a three pack (15 cups) for $19.99. Maybe it’s not something for every day (or to share), but it’s definitely good for a treat.
Dr Drip Coffee comes in four varieties: “The Decaf Energizer”, “The Organic Tonic” (100% USDA Certified organic), “The Double Daily Remedy”, and “The Ultimate Pick Me Up”. I had the Organic Tonic blend and the Double Daily Remedy blend sent to me – the Organic Tonic was very smooth, and a great “end of the day” blend. The Double Daily Remedy is Dr. Drip Coffee’s signature blend, and gave me a good amount of energy in the morning.
The portability, the smell, the taste, and having no negative footprint – all of these factors contributes to my score of 4.5 stars out of 5.
