iMac Refresh Coming Soon?

It’s not a question of if but when Apple will refresh their line of iMacs.  Now a report by way of 9to5Mac indicates that Apple will probably begin shipping an updated version of the all-in-one computer, which is said to include Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors and Thunderbolt connectivity, in the next few weeks.  Unfortunately, rumors don’t point to a touchscreen version, but it seems inevitable given the popularity of their iPad.

As of this posting, Apple’s online store is not associating any shipping delays with the iMacs, which, generally speaking a strong indicator of a product refresh.  However, a source close to 9to5Mac says that we can expect the delays to transpire later this week and that one Apple customer has indicated that their education order of the iMac has been delayed to May 2nd.

This looks like this will be a soft refresh which means no major redesign but include things similar to the macbook pro update such as thunderbolt.

    Things To Expect:
27″ imac coming standard with quad core
    Thunderbolt
    27″ 8gb ram standard
    better video card
larger hard drives (upgrade up 3tb)
Better front facing camera (likely will be discovered in test rather then listed as feature)
    Sandy Bridge processors

Things that you're crazy to think will be included:
    Matte screen
    Blu-ray

    Long shots:
better access to replacing hard drive (will not see until redesign)
Higher resolution aka Retina (has a chance, but will be included in next redesign for sure)
    21.5″ to turn into 24″
