Today, we got word from Major Nelson that Microsoft would eventually update the Xbox 360’s software to make it compatible with a new disc format. Pretty vague, huh? We thought so and a result held off posting on the news until we got wind of some additional deets.
Now Eurogamer is reporting, via a solid source, that the new disc format will now unlock up to 1GB of storage, previously used for security and other data, to gaming data, bumping capacity to a few hundred megs shy of 8GB. Skeptical?
Well, consider that Microsoft is handing out a free copy of Halo Reach to all of those that are admitted to the test release of the program. Makes a bit more sense now, don’t it?
