OnLive is doing Netflix for games, and it’s doing it for just $9.99/month.
“PlayPack” is available right now in beta form to those who already have an OnLive MicroConsole or purchase the OnLive Game System, which is a $99 bundle of the console and a controller.
OnLive’s aim as stated in the press release is to give full freedom to try and buy games, and even rent instead of demo a game. The moment’s top titles will be individually priced, while everything else is included into the flat fee.
OnLive subscribers that don’t buy the console can get in on the fun starting on the 15th of January, 2011. The usual free trials, 3- and 5-day rentals and Full PlayPass options will continue to be offered and are unaffected by the new options.
When officially out of beta, the PlayPack will contain 40 games, with promises of very recognizable titles.
