Today, LG unveiled the Optimus 2x, the world’s first smartphone with a dual-core processor. It’s packed with features, but the real meat of this story is that it sports a 1Ghz dual-core Tegra 2 system-on-a-chip, which isn’t found in another smartphone to date. We’re a bit skeptical on battery performance since it’s capacity is a mere 1500 mAh, nothing outside the norm of other smartphones, such as the iPhone 4.
Other features include a 4-inch touchscreen, dual cameras (8 and 1.3 megapixel), 8GB of built-in storage expandable to 32GB via microSD card, HDMI mirroring and the ability to capture full 1080p video.
The Optimus 2x will launch with Android 2.2 next month in Korea, but LG says you can expect an upgrade to 2.3 eventually, though that date is TBD. Unfortunately, there is no word on a US or EU arrival.
