UPDATED. Oh boy, here we go again. Yesterday, we saw the Crux360 Case and before that the Clamcase – both effectively convert the iPad into a netbook. The Zaggmate, while it lacks the same form factor as the aforementioned two, provides a protective case and Bluetooth keyboard with a stand in one. There is also a version without the keyboard. The case is crafted from lightweight aircraft grade aluminum.
There is no special hinge, so you’ll have to completely remove your iPad from the case, pop up the stand and orient the tablet accordingly. Since it isn’t dock dependent you can orientate it however you’d like; landscape or portrait mode.
The case itself is pretty slim and light weight, measuring just .54-inch thick and 12.8oz with keyboard. The battery – it’s for the Blutooth – probably makes up a good chunk of that weight and according to Zagg should last for serval weeks on a single charge (510 mAh).
The Zaggmate with keyboard costs $99.99, while the one without is $69.99. No word on a ship date at this time.
