We’ve seen screens that can produce 3D images sans glasses – the iPhone IS NOT one of those.  Enter Hasbro’s My3D.  It’s a throw back to the device from the 80s in which you placed paper thin circular cartridges into a comparable looking device that allowed you to view images in great detail.

The My3D, shaped like a pair of over sized binoculars, features a slot at the front of the device that is designed to fit the iPhone or iPod Touch – we assume there will be attachments for the different models.  Using the magic of stereoscopic viewing, users will be able to peer inside and view 3D content provided by applications that can be purchased in the iTunes app store.

It’s not clear if Hasbro will produce their own 3D compatible applications, but the toy company plans on collaborating with developers to develop paid and free applications that are compatible with the device.  They’ve already struck a deal with Dreamworks Animation to produce material for their recently released “Megamind” movie as well as leverage 3D content from Discovery, Sony and Imax who are scheduled to make its debut next year.

The Hasbro My3D will be available next Spring and cost $30.
