See the image above? That is the result of a voice search put into the Samsung Focus, a Windows Phone 7 device I’m currently testing for an upcoming review, and an unmarked WinMo7 phone in the adept hands of Nathan Fillion on the popular (aka, my favorite) show Castle. Except that the search results are completely different. What the hell. My results are all about the actual turnpike, whereas Fillion’s buttery voice seems to have caressed actually pertinent information from his phone. He isn’t spammed with an ad, nor does he get Wikipedia links on the Turnpike, or the Sopranos, or anything else useless. Why is my phone so different?! Check the video after the ‘leap’

James Pikover

Spawned in the horrendous heat of a Los Angeles winter, James was born with an incessant need to press buttons. Whether it was the car radio, doorbells on Halloween or lights, James pushed, pressed and prodded every button. No elevator was left unscathed, no building intercom was left un-rung, and no person he’s known has been left un-annoyed.
