With that said we just subscribe to an Internet plan that costs us $34.99 and use our Xbox 360 or Mac Mini to stream content to our HD TVs. It works perfectly and we’re free from the shackles of cable TV pricing and advertisements.
So pardon me if I don’t sound too excited about the prospect of being able to connect my Xbox 360 to my cable provider and watch live TV. The news isn’t official (just a rumor at this point), but the service would supposedly be offered by AT&T’s Uverse and require a special connection kit. You’d also be able to record TV, though you’d still need to have at least one of AT&T’s boxes in your household to make the service work, which stikes me as a little self defeating since the whole point of this offering is to have your media in one place.
Word is that the rumor will become official as of October 17th.
