VW Diesel Drives 1,531 Miles On One Tank Of Gas
What’s blue, German and goes for a long time? VW’s Passat BlueMotion sedan.
It sports a 1.6-liter TDI engine and was just driven a production car world record 1,531 miles on a single tank of gas. No the tank is not behemoth and measures just 20 gallons.
The car’s driver, Gavin Conway of The Sunday Times, drove an average of 45mph for 33 hours and 53 minutes before running out of fuel. Average miles per gallon was 74.9, which for those of you who drive Priuses know that your car, which is part electric, doesn’t even hold a candle.
