The HD02 Radio tuner, released under the Best Buy Insignia brand, will be the first FM radio capable of live pause. It also bookmarks station and song data, and its Artist Experience feature displays images related to the currently playing song and artist on the device’s 3 inch color touchscreen.
Image downloading is predicted to be supported by stations in 10 to 20 markets, and given Best Buy’s heavy push of the HD02 Radio, more will surely join the fray later. The live pause feature isn’t capable of saving images, but it stores up to 15 minutes of the audio stream and program service data.
The device’s lithium-ion battery life hits the eight-hour mark and there’s a 3.5mm jack for headphones or car stereos. It’s due to hit Best Buy on Oct. 24, and cost $69.
