Rummaging Through Apple’s Patents Reveals Future iPad Details
Apple stalking is an artform, and if Bigfoot watchers were as talented as some of these Apple obsessed bloggers, we’d know a lot more about the hairy beast of legend.
As it is though, we know a bunch of stuff about the next generation of iPads, which will rear their carefully designed frames early next year. Patents filed in China reveal an iPad camera connector is in the works, and a front facing camera, like those on the iphone 4 and iPod touch, will enable iPad users to use FaceTime video chat and video conferencing.
A new combination charging dock and external keyboard will be available, and it will allow the iPad to be docket in both landscape and portrait mode. On the bottom left hand side appears something that bloggers have dubbed a “smart bezel”, and although nobody known exactly what it’s supposed to do, it looks touch-enabled.
Patently Apple, the site doing all the patent research, writes that the new product designs have been completed by a team which “includes Bartley Andre, Daniel Coster, Daniele De Iuliis, Evans Hankey, Richard Howarth, Jonathan Ive, Duncan Kerr, Shin Nishibori, Matthew Dean Rohrbach, Peter Russell-Clarke, Douglas Satzger, Christopher Stringer, Eugene Whang and Rico Zorkendorfer.”
