These days most smartphones can download a wide variety of apps.  But if for some reason yours is of the more antiquated type and can’t handle an OCR application, then you might consider the King Jim Pitrec Business Card Recorder.

This handly little device can scan a business card and using some OCR (optical character recognition) software determine the person’s name, company and other pertinent details.

A small camera pops up and captures the cards info as you slide it to through the slot at the foot of the device. The slot doesn’t feature any scanning hardware and is designed to act as a guide to align the card with the camera. Transferring the cards should be as simple as plugging it into a computer, though it’s not clear what OSes and software it is compatible with. The real stinger, though, is the price tag: $401. With that said, here is a double entendre ‘forget it’.
