A rumor hit just before the weekend, by way of Appleinsider, stating that Apple would update their iPads with a built-in camera just before the holidays, at least according to a source close with the matter.
On one hand this sounds like complete cocky pock since Apple is known for ‘milking’ their customer base as long as possible and then issuing a slight product iteration to re-initiate press buzz and customer interest. But, on the other hand with a many competitor on the horizon Apple might make an attempt at thwarting the success of any competitive products before this key shopping time of the year. And as pointed out in the linked article, this coincides with Apple’s strategy of building more value to its flagship products, rather than slashing prices to increase sales volume. It’s questionable if Facetime would roll out for the iPad at the same time, but with a big software push coming to the touchscreen device around this time, which lends itself to the likelihood of a product refresh, it only seems more than feasible.
