For cars and airplanes there are black boxes. But what about us humans? When you get robbed, punched in the face or groped you probably want some proof, not to mention a detailed photo of the perp.
The Looxcie looks like your average new fangled Bluetooth headset, but it’s actually much more. In addition to letting you chat over the phone, or whatever Bluetooth device you have it connected to, it records video on a 30 seconds loop for up to 5 hours. When something disastrous happens you just hit the button and the last recorded loop is saved and sent to your Android device. From there you can decide what to do with the footage; make a complete fool of yourself on Youtube or send it to the police.
The catch is that the device costs $200 and captures a measly 480×320 video at 15fps, hardly relevant in terms of today’s video standard. Also, it’s limited to just Android handsets (Droid, Ally, Aria, EVO, etc).
