Otterbox, who has long been known for their hardcore cell phone cases that protect against bumps, drops and scratches has two new cases arriving sometime soon for the iPad.
The Defender iPad case ($90) is the most rugged of the two. It has “three layers of protection” as well as a built-in stand for viewing video and other media in landscape mode. The bottom of the case has a silicon grip, which means it won’t easily slide off a table and the ports are covered by Silicone plugs.
The Commuter iPad case ($65 and pictured), which is cheaper but not as tough, features a similar level of protection but sacrifices robustness for a smoother aesthetic. As the name implies, it’s designed for the everyday casual user.
