Apple — 06 May 2010

Another day, another Apple patent. This one’s a little more fitness-focused than usual, though. In the tradition of the Nike+ app and software on the third gen iPod Touch, the Seamlessly Embedded Heart Rate Monitor is designed to monitor — you guessed it — your heart rate. The seamlessly embedded part of the name means just that; the iPhone wouldn’t have any external indicators of its monitoring ability. You would simply put your finger on the device and the information about your body is displayed instantly. Sounds pretty nifty. Of course, this is all just theoretical right now, but I could definitely see lots of uses for this if it’s ever released.
