If you remember, Fusion Garage’s JooJoo was released the same week as the iPad and subsequently sort of got lost in the shuffle thanks to some middling reviews. Now Fusion Garage CEO Chandra Rathakrishnan is trying to drum up some new buzz for the device by announcing a 3G JooJoo set for release in July. In contrast to the iPad 3G, which is more expensive than its WiFi brother, the 3G JooJoo will be released in a subsidized version by a contract from a yet-unnamed 3G provider.
In addition, a firmware update coming in the next thirty days for both versions will add support for external USB storage, allowing users to add more storage than the 4GB the device currently offers. Analysts say that Fusion Garage is trying to distance itself as a direct iPad competitor — we’ll just have to wait and see how that goes.
